Ragdollens personlighet och utveckling
Ragdollen är lugn katt och hängiven sin ägare, många
tycker de är väldigt hundlika. Den är kelig och tycker
om att bli ompysslad. Skötseln är enkel. Den täta
långa pälsen är mycket lättskött och ligger
efter kroppen och "skiktar" sig något när katten
rör sig. Passar bra att ha i ett hus men lika bra i en lägenhet.
Den kommer mycket lätt överens med andra katter, hundar
och barn. Kattungen föds helt vit och det är först
efter 3-5 dagar som tecken och färg börjar att visa sig
svagt. Fullt utvecklad är ragdollen sällan förrän
2-3 års ålder. Honorna är markant mindre.
Den perfekta standarden
Ja, den finns knappast och oavsett om alla ideal uppfylls så
är det ytterst en familjemedlem man har skaffat sig. Naturligtvis
om man skall avla och ställa ut så måste man sträva
efter att köpa den kattungen som uppfyller standarden för
detta sammanhang. Ragdollen är en stor och kraftig katt med
medellång silkig päls. Pälsen formar en krage runt
halsen och "äppelknyckarbyxor" på bakbenen.
Huvudet har ett platt parti mellan öronen som sitter långt
från varandra och är svagt rundade. Nosen har en lätt
böj på den översta tredjedelen. Ögonen är
ovala och alltid blå. Kroppen är lång och muskulös.
Den fullvuxna katten är lika bred över skuldrorna som
över bakkroppen. Tassarna är stora och stadiga med hårtofsar
mellan tårna.
Honkatten är avsevärt mindre än hankatten. Hänsyn
skall tas till hankattens kraftigare käkparti. Kattens utveckling
är långsam - det kan ta runt 3 år innan ragdollen
är fullvuxen!
